Gua Sha Class Hannah and Kyndl teach about Gua Sha tools and techniques, and demonstrate how to safely practice this therapy at home, for self-care.
Gua Sha is a traditional method of brushing and scraping the skin that you may have experienced here in our clinic. Areas most often treated are the neck, shoulders and back, but other painful areas respond well too (carpal tunnel with tense forearms or tendonitis at the elbows, for example). Brushing may be vigorous or gentle, depending on the patient. The goal is to bring redness or "sha" up to the surface to vent out pathogens or "evil qi".
This therapy is extremely helpful for opening up the muscles, fascia and tendons. It can be used in early stages of illness to support the lungs, and later on for stubborn cough. If you or your family members have asthma, are frequently sick, have chronic muscle tension, pain, or tendonitis, you will love having this option for at-home treatments!
